Center Founding Philosophy

After the emergence of the Internet, the vast amount of business operation data rendered traditional basic analytical techniques insufficient. The emergence and development of "Business Analytics" is based on business knowledge combined with mathematical and programming skills. It further utilizes data analysis to create practical value through decision optimization, addressing the limitations of previous analytical techniques. It effectively applies big data in the field of business.

The center aims to integrate academic research and practical applications in the fields of business operations, clinical healthcare, and health care. Through the deep integration of big data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, the center strives to make practical contributions to academia and society. With the development of Industry 4.0 concepts and technologies, it promotes smart healthcare and intelligent manufacturing, thereby enhancing the research capabilities of Chang Gung University and the productivity and competitiveness of related industries.

Research and Development Directions of the Center

The center has three research and development directions:

► Decision Optimization
This area focuses on making optimal decisions utilizing real-time data and the fast computing power of computers. It aims to advance factories from automation and digitization to gradually enter the stages of interconnection and intelligence, thereby enhancing decision quality and organizational productivity. The specific goal is to achieve digitalization and automation of factory management, realize IoT interactions, utilize data analysis, and develop intelligent decision-making capabilities through the integration of network and reality systems. It aims to prevent the escalation of known issues in production lines, proactively take preventive measures, and unify factories and supply chains through IoT, aligning with the vision of Industry 4.0.

► Health Informatics
This area aims to enhance the quality of healthcare services and the efficiency of healthcare management through big data analysis and the assistance of artificial intelligence. It also seeks to reduce the frequency of medical errors and decrease healthcare costs and administrative workloads.

► Smart Healthcare
Smart healthcare and technology-enabled long-term care aim to achieve "ageing in place" through the application of artificial intelligence, IoT, and robotics, combined with big data analytics. It includes virtual caregiving, precision medicine, preventive care, and other aspects to provide appropriate medical resources and care for the aging population.
